ACHIEVEMENTS AT A GLANCE

Kavi KulGuru Kalidas Sanskrit University has scaled maximum possible academic hights within a very short span of four years. This is a great achievement because the university is for an exclusive subject like Sanskrit where students are not easily available in their prime studentship period. The K.K.Sanskrit University crossed easily and successfully all the hurdles and launched courses for Beginners to Post Graduation students with Doctoral and Post Doctoral facilities. The University was actually developed in just three years. The University could make such progress because I had the fullest co-operation and backing of my teaching and non-teaching staff who worked hard for this achievement. The following points will speak for the achievements of the university.

 

The Achievements in just initial four years

 

1. The University very successfully organised the first convocation for the students of Diploma examinations in the third year of his existance. Diplomas were awarded to nearly 600 students. The convocation was largely attended.

 

2. This university has higest number of students compared to any other Sanskrit university in India.

 

3. Five Departments of Post Graduate level were established in the University viz.

 

1) Veda and Vedanga

2) Sahitya and Sahityashastra

3) Dharma, Tatwadnyan and Sanskruti

4) Oriental studies and research

5) Ancient Indian Sciences and Technology.

 

4. 40 need based new courses with Sanskrit as a compulsory subject were designed and developed. These courses have good symbiosis of traditional learning from Sanskrit and modern learning with upto date developments in that subject.

 

5. Affiliated more than 50 Academic institutions to this University within Maharashtra.

 

6. Affiliated 30 Sanskrit institutions outside Maharashtra from different states in India.

 

7. The University has spread its wings in the rest of India. The reputation of the University attracted 30 eminent Sanskrit Institutions from rest of India who have applied for affiliation to this University. The prominent among the applicants are :-

 

1) Vivekanand Ved Vidyalaya of Ramkrishna Math. Belur. West Bengal.

2) Swaminarayan Temple's Darshnam Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya, Gujarat.

3) Calicut Adarsha Sanskrit Vidyapeetham, Kerala.

4) Shree Shankar Vidyapeetham, Kerala,

5) Shree Batuknath Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya, Varanasi,U.P. etc.

 

8. The Post Graduate Department has a staggering strength of 140 students probably highest in India.

 

9. University has organised more than 200 Sanskrit Speaking Camps in last four years all over the State of Maharashtra.

 

10. University has research projects at hand financed by various agencies worth 70 lacs rupees.

 

11. The University has organised nearly ten All India Conferences /Seminars.

12. University has nearly six publications, which have social importance. 1)Origin and Development of Religion in Vedas 2)Shivanrupalcharitram 3)Pradnyabharati Dr.Varnekar and its work 4) Kavyakunjam - A collection of modern poems 5) Great Sons of India-Childrens' literature 6) Sanskrit News monthly magazine.

 

13. The University has both traditional and modern Sanskrit courses. University has nearly ten language courses to promote Sanskrit, Pali, Prakrit from elementary level to Post Graduate level and also facility for research upto Post Graduate level.

 

14. The University has established an All India Award entitled 'Mahakavi Kalidas Sanskrit Jeevanvrati Rashtriya Puraskar' having a citation, a Gold Medal and a cash purse of Rs. 50,000/-. The first award was given to Mahakavi Dr.G.B.Palsule, Pune and the next award will be conferred on Dr.Shri.Satyvrat Shastri, New Delhi.

 

15. In last four years the university has felicitated more than 100 scholars of oriental languages viz. Sanskrit, Pali, Ardha Magadhi, Prakrit, Persian and Arabic.

 

16. Most of the Diploma and Degree courses of the university are consultancy oriented.

 

17. Just in three years, the University has organised successfully more than 50 public functions under the banner of the University which were largely attended.

 

18. Developed awareness in students to represent the University in cultural and sports activities at various competitions platforms in India.

 

19. The University has good number of Research registrations from Indian and foreign students.

 

20. This University has exclusive courses of Keertanshastra, (Temple Art) B.A.Civil Services (based on competitive exam courses) and B.A. Professional. (based on professional courses) with Sanskrit literature as compulsory subject.

 

21. A rich Library with mostly original Sanskrit texts is established and is being computerized for national hook-up.

 

22. The University has very good collection of manuscripts.

 

23. The University has more than one thousand students, though university has not started the student attracting course like B.Ed. Sanskrit so far.

 

24. The construction of University building is underway at Head Quarter Ramtek.

 

25. Infrastructure provision for seven sub-centres in Maharashtra initiated at Nagpur, Akola, Nashik, Mumbai, Pune, Aurangabad, Ratnagiri.

 

26. University has within this short period awarded two Ph.D.degrees and one D.Litt. (Doctor of Letters) degree.

 

27. The university has already attracted foreign students for research degree. At present there are 10 foreign students registered for Ph.D.degree.

 

28. The University will confer Honorary D.Litt. on the great Sanskrit Scholar, Linguist and former Prime Minister of India Shri.P.V.Narsimharao in December, 2002.

 

29. The University is well equipped with all major ordinances and statutes numbering more than 100, suitable for the Sanskrit University.

 

30. The university has established its own website providing the complete information and made provision for online examinations for the initial preparations of students.
